Leaves: Rigid, oblong-lanceolate, strongly net-veined and round-toothed, ending in a small spine.

الأزهار

Inflorescence & flowers: Numerous flower whorls, spaced below and closer together above. Floral bracts are membranous, conspicuously veined, hair-fringed and wider than long, narrowing abruptly into a spreading point and exceeding the flowers. The green, finely hairy calyx has rigid, lanceolate, fringed teeth; the corolla scarcely projects.

Lebanese distribution: Saida, Beirut, Hadeth, Nahr Beirut, Nahr el Kalb, Qalmoun, Tripoli, Souq el Gharb, Deir el Qamar, Amchit, Balhas, Broummana, above Chekka, Baino, Qalaat ech Chekif, the Litani valley below Beaufort, Jisr el Khardali and Kornet Chehwan.

Syrian distribution: Latakia, between Safita and Tartous, Ain Haramiyeh, Slenfe and Banias.

Native range: Lebanon-Syria, Palestine.
