الأوراق

Leaves: Lanceolate, tapering at both ends, with 3–5 veins, usually 5–12 cm long and sometimes reaching 18 cm. Leaves are spreading to ascending, thin to papery, hairless or hairy.

Inflorescence & flowers: Very dense, ovoid to short cylindrical spikes. Bracts and sepals are ovate, keeled and covered in long hairs; the calyx tips appear conspicuously white when fresh. Corolla lobes are sharply pointed, about 2 mm long.

Syrian distribution: Latakia, Khan Cheikhoun–Maaret en Noman, Aleppo, Hama, Homs–Tell Kalakh, Ezraa and Hamme.

Native range: Albania, Algeria, Azores, Baleares, Bulgaria, Canary Is., Cape Verde, Corse, Cyprus, East Aegean Is., Egypt, France, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Kriti, Kuwait, Lebanon-Syria, Libya, Madeira, Morocco, NW. Balkan Pen., Pakistan, Palestine, Portugal, Sardegna, Sicilia, Spain, Transcaucasus, Tunisia, Türkiye, Türkiye-in-Europe, Western Sahara.

Introduced into: Germany.
