الوصف النباتي
Morphology — Mouterde’s historical treatment: Mouterde places Rosa dumetorum among the dog roses with non-glandular leaves and fruits lacking glands or bristles. The leaves are pubescent, especially beneath. He describes it as very close to R. canina, but with relatively weak, curved prickles, more or less hairy petioles and leaves, and pink or pinkish-white flowers. The fruits resemble those of his R. canina, described as glabrous and ovoid-urn-shaped or rounded. These characters summarize Mouterde’s historical account; they are not presented as a modern diagnosis establishing the identity of every specimen he cited.

Flowering, habitat and elevation: Mouterde does not give a separate flowering period, habitat statement or numerical elevation range for his R. dumetorum account. The spring flowering and woodland/hedgerow habitat printed immediately above belong to R. canina and are not transferred here as taxon-specific data.
